The restaurants in the streets facing the Colosseum are very flash and flashy. I felt there had to be options, so I headed away from the Colosseum down a narrow street with only room for scooter parking. There next to the souvenir stall is a lovely little cafe. Cheap and cheerful. Perfect for me.
colourful tables and chairs and staff were very attentive. It seems like it's a vegetarian restaurant. Hmmm. Things are looking good. I order their eggplant parmiagana. It comes beautifully cooked, eggplant all soft, and with a little salad. Yum. The flavour in tomatoes at the moment is powerfully appetising. They also make a range of fresh fruit and veg juices as well as smoothies.
I was so impressed with my meal I thought it better have dessert. No creme caramel, so I opted for the chocolate cake typical of southern Italy. I needed to have a drink with that. Their chai looked interesting.
a lovely meal in a bright and friendly cafe. Thoroughly enjoyable.
