An incredible day

I hitched a lift with Klaus the garden director to Germany. He was going in the Schatzalp van to collect some more plants for the garden. Great opportunity for me to see more of the Swiss countryside and visit Konstanz on the shores of Lake Constance.

Klaus is an avid Prince fan so he played some of his live cds. INCREDIBLE musician.

Up until today I thought Switzerland was full of high rugged mountains and the only flat area was my bed! As we travelled northward crossing a corner of Litchenstein, also covered in steep rugged mountains we approached the Rhine River, flat! INCREDIBLE. Many wineries and vineyards, corn, lettuce and other veggies are grown here as well as many apple orchards.

Once in Germany, no border check, Klaus dropped me off as we crossed the Rhine and he continued to some nurseries,  I'm into the cool water of the Rhine straight away. Lots of water craft of all descriptions going past.  From fellow swimmers, standup paddle boards, yachts of all sizes and the long scenic boats that take tourists around Lake Constance. Even dolphins, INCREDIBLE

I spent the afternoon exploring and eating my way around  the old part of town, then went to  the wonderful boutique spice shop owned by Bridgitte, a friend of Klaus's. She was rearranging her stock so I lent a hand and found the Tasmanian mountain pepper berries she sells. INCREDIBLE.

On our way home, back into the beautiful mountains of Switzerland that just want to give you a big hug for returning to them, we called into Heidiland. No visit to Switzerland is complete without a visit here. INCREDIBLE.

Home safe and sound at the end of the day thanks to Klaus, an INCREDIBLE gentleman who's passion for and knowledge of alpine plants from around the world puts him comfortably in the genius category.
