Tuna food fest in Tarifa

I've been wandering the streets of Tarifa for a week and noticed lots of tun tun posters everywhere. Now I get it!! Thanks to Donatella Donatelli, last nights waitress.

Donnatella is a sassy Italian with her mojo happening big time!! She was unavoidably engaging and happily explained the tun tun festival. Thirty cafes in town each offer a tuna tapas on their menu. Visitors can sample and vote on a minimum of eight dishes to go in the draw for a 3000Euro prize. The festival has brought a lot of visitors to the area.

Yesterday all the other diners at our lunch cafe were eating what we thought was cake with their beer.

cup cake a la tuna. The base is like a donut bread, then cream cheese, tuna and roe, all served on a little plate under a glass bell jar. This dish deserves an award just for presentation alone.

sushi roll with violet flavoured cabbage, tuna, Japanese seaweed, wasabi flavoured mayo. Flavours in this dish would be on a par with presentation of tuna cupcake dish.

another tun tun tapas. Beautiful in its presentation and wasabi was breathtaking as usual.
