This time last year I was at the Catalunya MotoGP. On a mission to meet Valentino Rossi. I did see him but not close enough to meet him. I got a ticket to one of the hospitality tents to increase my chances of meeting him.
This year I'm in Croatia and in a coffee shop in Stari Grad, Hvar Island, more like the coffee palaces of old. I'm thinking of the one on Maria Island!!
All week I've been in and out of the cafe trying to organise for them to show the MotoGP on their big screen. The compromise was, yes they would show the telecast, but no sound. I'm happy with that. Every time I mentioned MotoGP to them they would reply, "Rossi" without fail. By the time Sunday came around, I was at there cafe At 11 am, they called me Rossi!! And Bok, is an informal hello or goodbye, like Hi and 'bye.
I even saw one of the cafe fellows in my street today and I get a big smile and nod, "Rossi, Bok"
Gotta love the Croatians for that.
Last year Rossi raced really well and got a podium finish. This year, entirely different scenario. He along with three others were all involved in a crash caused by Lorenzo's dodgy braking technique. Boo hoo. 😢😢
